The following images were captured by the weather cam and are examples of what you might see during the day or when the weather is better.

Mt. Bachelor - The main ski area in Bend. Approx 15 miles from the Camera.

Broken Top - partially hidden -
Great Day Hike.

Broken Top Summit 9,175

South Sister - Summit 10,358

Somewhat active volcano. This is the Eastern facing side of the mountain. On the south west side, there is a detected "bulge" indicating magma pushing up.

South Sister is Approx 19 miles from the camera.

Middle Sister -

Middle Sister Summit - 10,047 ft.

This is the radio tower located just above Tumalo Falls. Barely visible to the left is Forest Road 4601 which runs to the north of Tumalo Creek up the ridge of the valley. The Tower base elevation is 5,985 ft.

Triangle hill is a great viewpoint to see all the Oregon Cascades from Mt. Bachelor to Mt. Hood and sometimes beyond. A road to the top and a clear north and western view makes it perfect for viewing. Backround North Sister (right) Middle Sister (left)

A rare Bend Rainbow. This photo shows an early morning rainbow.

With an average of 12 inches of rain anually , rainbows appear only a few times per year.

An Awsome Central Oregon Fall Sunset.

<------------------------------------

This image was taken on the early morning hours of 10/17/05 during the final stage of a lunar eclipse. The lower left corner
still has a slight shadow.

This picture has been enlarged.

This is a cell tower located off of Skyliners road near the water tanks. The "tree" stands about 60 feet above the rest of the forest and is much darker in color. Admittedly, as silly as it looks, it is way better than a large undisguised steel pole sticking up out of the forest. From most of Bend, this tower is almost invisible.

This image was taken early evening on 1/12/2007.
Barely visible just above the horizon is comet McNaught.
This was one of the last nights it was visible in the
Northern Hemisphere.

I had to put this mid winter sunset in. This was the nicest I've seen since coming to Bend 5 years ago.

Jan 29, 2007

<---------------------------

Just a couple of days later ( Jan 31,2007 ) we find ourselves in the midst of Hoars fog. When this shows up, it often lasts for days.

Generally just one side of the surface of most things outdoors, is covered in a light to moderate coating of ice crystals. Also, the temperature ranges just a few degrees a day from about 17 degrees to 24 degrees during this time. It appears as if everything is sugar coated.

Feb 23, 2007 early morning sunrise on the Cascades
after a prolonged period of light snow.
Not from the webcam, but I thought this was a cool picture. I got this from up on Longview Street in Bend during some strong thunderstorms on 08/30/2007. This is looking NE towards the Old Mill and Pilot Butte in Bend. It shows a sun pillar lighting up a small area during a series of strong storms. This was taken by my camera phone.

on a cold January morning.
